Manchester, UK: Children in Manchester raise vital funds for GRF’s education initiative, providing disadvantaged children worldwide with school supplies .
As part of their Back to School initiative, Manchester-based humanitarian aid charity Global Rahmah Foundation (GRF) worked with Didsbury Mosque’s Quran School to raise vital funds for children around the world. Over 900 children were given money boxes to raise money for other disadvantaged children.
The children raised an incredible £7,298 which will support other children around the globe with school supplies.
Children in poverty or conflict-affected areas don’t have the necessary tools to show up to school prepared and ready to learn. They could be the next doctors or teachers, but without basic school supplies, it becomes harder than ever to fulfil their potential. Some children are forced to carry their books in plastic bags, which provide very little protection from the rain. Several don’t have uniforms to wear to school, including shoes. They have to walk barefoot to receive an education.
GRF’s Back to School campaign provides children with what they need to succeed. We distribute school supplies and uniforms, allowing children to show up to school prepared and ready to learn, as every child deserves to. This is an annual initiative we will continue to do for the foreseeable future. This year, we focused on how all children are superstars, and we needed a little help to ‘let them shine’
Over 900 children took part in this initiative. All children received a certificate thanking them for their contribution and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place from each group won a prize. The highest fundraisers raised an outstanding £1,000+ alone.
