Fidya
What is Fidya?
Fidya is a religious obligation in Islam, typically observed during Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is a form of compensation for individuals who are unable to fast due to illness, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or other valid reasons. Fidya involves providing food or monetary assistance to those in need, equivalent to the cost of feeding a person for each day of missed fasting.
Let us heed the words of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said, ‘Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in his reward.’ Through Fidya, we have the opportunity to earn immense rewards from Allah while also alleviating the hardship of our brothers and sisters in need.
