Help refugee children process trauma endured. Support their development today

Many refugee children who grew up in refugee camps are exposed to stressful experiences such as war. This makes them vulnerable to developing mental health difficulties like PTSD and anxiety disorders. We’re working with qualified child psychologists, speak and language therapists and clinical practitioners in Lebanon to carry out NET (Narrative Exposure Therapy) and Play Therapy. We are helping children process the trauma endured. Give now and give these children a part of their childhood back.

Refugee children already miss out

An estimated 40% of the global refugee population is made up of children under the age of 18 (UNHCR). Many fall behind as a direct result of their situation. Some don’t get to go to school, while others struggle to form relationships.

Many suffer from PTSD and anxiety disorders, affecting their development, schooling and more. Support Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and donate to our mental health fund today.

About Play Therapy & Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)

Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) is a short-term psychological treatment, proven to reduce PTSD symptoms. NET involves therapists helping children build a chronological narrative of their lives, focusing on trauma endured. The therapist will record the sensory information, emotions, physical relations and thoughts described.

Play Therapy involves using play and art materials for children to express themselves. This allows them to share their feelings, fears and anxieties through play, working towards their healing. Play therapy is useful as it does not solely rely on verbal communication but also makes use of other mediums such as art, storytelling, drama therapy and more. Both forms of therapy have been chosen after speaking to therapists and professionals in the UK and Lebanon. They are particularly effective for children and refugees who have been displaced.
