Gaza Emergency

90% of the population in Gaza are now displaced

“The world has witnessed some of the worst genocidal attacks on the innocent people of Gaza, since the start of the Palestinian occupation in 1947. Over the last few months, the continuous brutal attacks have killed over 37,953 people, out of which 15,000 were children

The suffering does not end for those who survive the attacks. Many are forced to live each day in terror and struggle to access basic needs like food, shelter and medical attention. Gaza has the largest number of people (1.11 million) faced with catastrophic levels of food insecurity, as a result 50,000 children in Gaza require medical attention for malnourishment. Attempting to make their way to relative safety, 1.9 million people have been displaced, often up to 10 times.

As people move into temporary shelters they are met with overcrowding, harsh weather conditions and poor sanitation leading to increased risk of infections and diseases. The air strikes have led to the destruction of over 61% of all infrastructure in Gaza, this includes homes, commercial buildings and hospitals. The only 11 hospitals remaining in Gaza are struggling to provide medical attention due to their limited operational capacity.

The destruction has led to power outages, damages to water sources and left the people of Gaza in a dire state. GRF’s teams have been on the ground and have been working endlessly to ensure the people of Gaza have access to nutritious food by providing them with hot meals and food parcels. To combat water scarcity, water trucks are sent to ensure the people of Gaza can have clean drinking water.

Other essentials like hygiene kits, blankets, warm clothing, medical kits and mother and baby kits have also been provided. Beyond delivering essential aid, GRF has undertook supporting the community in Gaza through their Homemade Bread Distribution Project. This initiative brings women together to bake bread using limited equipment, providing them with a source of income and feeding families in need.

"It is imperative that we are able to get humanitarian supplies and relief into Gaza safely, reliably, without impediment, and at the scale required. In particular, [it is] urgent for us to replenish fuel supplies, which are vital for powering most essential services, including hospitals and water desalination plants, and to transport humanitarian relief inside Gaza."
